Eric Dickerson Thinks the New Rams Logo Looks Like a Penis
The Los Angeles Rams unveiled their new logos earlier this week. As is the case with virtually anything that's new in the age of social media, almost everyone said they hated it — I actually rather like them.
But Rams legend Eric Dickerson took it a step further: he not only dislikes the new logos, he thinks one of them closely resembles a phallus.
LA Times — “Someone said it looks like a penis; it did,” Dickerson said. “That says it all right there. That should be enough for the Rams to say we messed up. We’re going to keep what we got.”
I assume Dickerson is referring to the nose of the new ram logo linked at the top of this page, because the primary "LA" mark doesn't really have anything that I could see being referenced as looking like a dick. But I suppose I can kinda see it in this one. And while I still contend these logos are an upgrade from the bland template the Rams had previously, Dickerson actually shared some re-designs of these logos that have received a lot more support and look pretty good.
The logo on the right is just a combination of the Rams' new primary and secondary logos with a slight tweak, but it actually looks awesome. And if one of the most legendary players in your franchise's history supports such a slight change and insists your current iteration looks like a penis, maybe it isn't too late to change.
The odds of a team changing its logo after just undergoing a change which cost millions of dollars are virtually zero, but maybe it should have at least given a phone call to the three or so best players to ever wear its uniform to make sure they wouldn't publicly bash the new marks for looking like genitalia. Maybe something for teams to note going forward.
